Adomas Bočkus: A Journey of Innovation and Leadership at Tieto Tech Consulting

Human-centered approach of Tieto Tech Consulting helps build an inspiring and nurturing environment for our people to thrive. Like Adomas Bočkus – a senior software developer who has bridged the gap between software development and application architecture in 12 years he had spent with the company.

From tackling complex challenges to spearheading cutting-edge projects, Adomas exemplifies the talent that fuels our progress.  With a deep understanding of the Microsoft Power Platform and a knack for pioneering new solutions, he has consistently demonstrated the courage to lead from the front.

Learning by Leading

The mindset that shaped Adomas’s work is inspired by the saying of a famous Chinese entrepreneur Jack Ma: "Don't be the best, but be the first". Taking to heart this wisdom, Adomas approaches each project as a unique challenge that needs a unique, first-of-a-kind solution. Even when challenges look familiar on the surface, every customer case introduces its own maze of technology, architecture, and code. There is a high probability that the team will start working with tools and tech stacks they have never encountered before.

Adomas notes that in such cases he always tries to be on the front lines, finding the way out and leading his teammates toward answers and new ideas that will eventually contribute to productive results. For example, in one of the high-scale projects for an energy provider, he stepped into the unknown, diving deep into Canvas Apps and even building a custom advanced control now used for finding accounts from external sources. “Don't be afraid to take the reins,” says Adomas, “because in the end, you'll have a chance to rephrase this quote and proudly say for yourself, "Being the first is being the best".

A Career-Defining Experience at Tieto Tech Consulting

One of the projects with an energy provider brought Adomas an opportunity to level up his expertise and drive forward his career. The challenging task demanded a custom approach, and Adomas delivered a POC on how to connect and integrate the CRM cloud with the rest of the client's on-premises systems. That was the moment that closed the gap between the software developer and application architect positions for him. “From that point, I understood how crucial my decisions would be, how they would impact the client's daily operations,” he says. The newly found sense of accomplishment and responsibility has ignited a new passion and motivated Adomas to move further in the tech field.

Versatility as a Core Demand of Global IT Deliveries

Thinking about the future of the industry, Adomas envisions Global Delivery Operations  thriving through versatility. Future IT professionals, he believes, must be able to combine multiple roles – thinking not only about writing code, but also how it will be tested, analyzed, and integrated. Multiskilled professionals create a "symbiosis" in the team and close the possible gaps. This synergy allows teams to bridge development and analysis, foresee limitations and risks early, and elevate the overall quality of the delivery.

With 15 years of experience and deep knowledge of the Microsoft Power Platform, Adomas is continuing to expand his toolkit with Azure technologies and other Microsoft Dynamics components. His ambition drives him to move toward lead developer or architecture roles – positions where his broad skillset can generate even greater value. As Adomas puts it: “The more skilled you are, the better services and products you deliver, the more opportunities you create for both you and your employer.”
