Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Production Support & Enhancement Engineer to manage end-to-end application development, maintenance, and production support for Java/Oracle-based enterprise systems. Tieto Banktech powers some of the Nordics’ most trusted banking systems with secure, reliable, and scalable solutions. Using automation, data, AI, and cloud, supported by hands-on guidance, we help banks modernize their core, strengthen trust, and deliver greater impact across the banking experience.

This role is primarily focused on 60% development and enhancement activities and 40% production support and maintenance, requiring a strong balance of technical expertise and functional understanding. The ideal candidate will ensure high system availability while contributing to new feature development, custom change requests, POCs, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and enhance Java-based enterprise applications and backend services.

  • Implement new features, custom change requests (CRs), and technical enhancements aligned with business requirements.

  • Develop and maintain REST APIs using Java (Spring/Spring Boot preferred).

  • Write, optimize, and maintain SQL/PL-SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects in Oracle.

  • Participate in solution design discussions, technical feasibility analysis, and Proof-of-Concept (POC) initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) including performance, scalability, security, and reliability.

  • Provide L2/L3 production support by monitoring applications, analyzing logs, and resolving incidents within SLA timelines.

  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for production issues and implement permanent fixes.

  • Coordinate with business users during requirement clarification, UAT cycles, and issue resolution.

  • Handle service requests, defect fixes, deployment support, and release activities.

  • Collaborate with QA, infrastructure, and cross-functional teams to ensure system stability and smooth operations.

  • Maintain proper documentation for incidents, changes, enhancements, and deployment activities.

  • Contribute to automation, scripting, and operational efficiency improvements where applicable.

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong experience in Java (Core Java, Spring/Spring Boot)

  • Solid hands-on experience with Oracle Database (SQL, PL/SQL, performance tuning)

  • Experience in REST API development and backend services

  • Knowledge of enterprise application architecture

  • Experience in application production support (incident management, RCA, SLA handling)

  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments

  • Experience with version control tools (Git) and build tools (Maven)

  • Working knowledge of ticketing tools (JIRA, ServiceNow, etc.)
